Grace Period Extended for Second Quarter Tax Payment
RESOLUTION NO. 144-2020
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
TOWN OF DOVER, COUNTY OF MORRIS AND STATE OF NEW JERSEY
INSTITUTING A GRACE PERIOD TO JUNE 1, 2020 FOR THE PAYMENT OF SECOND-QUARTER PROPERTY TAXES
WHEREAS, pursuant to the laws of the State of New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy has promulgated a series of Executive Orders to address the crisis; and
WHEREAS, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant suffering, including but not limited to a substantial loss or drop in income as well as increased expenses such as those relating to necessary healthcare; and
WHEREAS, in order to assist the people of the State of New Jersey, Governor Murphy enacted Executive Order No. 130, which orders and directs that any governing body of a municipality may adopt a resolution instituting a grace period concluding on a date no later than June l, 2020 for the payment of second quarter property taxes; and
Whereas, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen believe it is in the best interests of the Town and our residents to adopt such a resolution;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Dover:
l . The Town of Dover hereby institutes a grace period concluding on June 1 2020 for the payment of second-quarter property taxes,
- The Acting Municipal Clerk shall notify the Director of the Department of the Division of Local Government Services in the Department of Community Affairs of this resolution
instituting an extended grace period not later than the third business day next following the
governing body's adoption of this resolution.
- This resolution shall take immediate effect.
- A copy of this resolution shall be served upon the Interim Chief Financial Officer of the Town of Dover.
