MAYOR CAROLYN BLACKMAND & BOARD OF ALDERMEN ANNOUNCE GRAND OPENING OF FREE AND REDUCED COST COVID-19 TESTING AT ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN DOVER

July 3, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
History comes full circle in the Town of Dover as the Mayor and Board announce the grand opening of the COVID-19 testing center at St. John’s Episcopal Church where Dover residents sought care during the Great Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918.

The testing center, which is the result of a partnership with the Town, URGIMED URGENT CARE of Randolph, and St. John’s Episcopal Church located on Blackwell Street, offers free and significantly reduced cost COVID-19 and anti-body testing to Dover residents.

Mayor Carolyn Blackman stated, “This is a prime example for the rest of the County and the state for how public, private, and faith-based cooperation can provide positive, tangible, and measureable results to the public---without the use of public funds.
I want to personally thank Father Rod of St. John’s Episcopal Church for continuing the legacy of his Church’s commitment to healing the people of Dover for over 100 years. I also want to thank Sam Prassad of URGIMED for working with us to bring this much needed program to our community.”
Blackman continued, “I am proud that Dover is taking the lead in the fight against COVID-19. Testing is a critical component in the overall effort to eradicate this disease for which there is no cure and no vaccine.”

Sam Prassad, the owner of URGIMED, agreed with Blackman and stated, “Even though the grand opening is not until July 9, 2020, we are currently available to provide testing to the public and welcome those desiring our services. It is important for everyone to be tested, including individuals who are not sick, as asymptomatic transmission is a major contributor to contagion. All privacy and confidentiality laws, including HIPPA, apply to our program.”

The testing center is staffed with fully bilingual English-Spanish medical professionals who are ready to assist every member of our community, which includes those without medical insurance. Everyone is welcome; no one will be denied testing at the facility.

Individuals with insurance will have no out of pocket costs. Individuals without insurance, but with state identification, will receive all services for free. The first 100 people without medical insurance and without identification from any state will be tested for free. Thereafter, those without state identification will pay only the laboratory fee of $60.00, all medical services associated with the testing are absolutely free.
