DOVER FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY BEGINS LOBBY PICK-UP SERVICE ON JULY 6

Release Date: July 20, 2020

DOVER FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY BEGINS LOBBY PICK-UP SERVICE ON JULY 6

The Dover Free Public Library will begin contactless lobby pick-up and telephone services for all Dover Library materials including books, DVDs, and music CDs starting Monday, July 6 according to the Phase 2 re-opening schedule set forward by New Jersey Governor Murphy.

Patrons will not be allowed to enter the Dover Library building for any reason.  In order to receive service, patrons must wear masks and employ social distancing and the library staff will do the same.  Consult the library website regularly for changes and updates: www.dfpl.org.

All Morris County libraries  are not able to offer inter-library loans or services at this time.  This service will not be available for several months, therefore only materials owned by the Dover Library may be reserved and picked up there.  In the meantime:

  1.  Place a hold on Dover Library materials only in the library catalog starting Monday, July 6.
  2. Please be sure to select Dover Library as the pickup location. (Due to the lack of statewide delivery service until further notice, none of our items may be shipped to other libraries; nor will we be able to have another library’s material shipped to us.)
  3. Or call the Circulation Desk (973-366-0172) to request that an item be placed on hold.

Beginning Monday, July 6, the library hours will be changed to the following:

  • Monday through Friday – 10 AM to 4 PM (pick-up from 10 AM to 3 PM only)
  • Saturday and Sunday – Closed

Rules for Pick-up library service:

  • Requested materials will be placed on hold for one week, and then returned back into circulation.
  • When holds are processed, patrons will get automatic notification via phone or email.  Library staff will call you to provide a phone number for the Circupation Desk at least 30 minutes prior to arriving to give staff adequate time to get prepared items for contactless pickup.
  • When you arrive, please call the Circulation Desk at 973-366-0172.
  • Enter lobby by way of the side door (at top of ramp).
  • If you do not call in advance, there will be delays in getting your materials.  Calling will definitely expedite the process.
  • For returns, use the book drops only.  Materials are pulled from the book drops daily and quarantined for 72 hours before discharging and re-shelving to ensure safe handling.
