Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic Course

The state of New Jersey requires volunteer coaches to attend a safety orientation and training skills program in order to be eligible for civil immunity protection provided by the Little League Law (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)  The curriculum for the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic is based upon the Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and has been tested in court as having met the standards. 
The topics for this class include "Legal Aspects of Coaching",  "Psychological Aspects of Coaching",  "General Coaching Concepts",  "Training and Conditioning of Athletes" and  "Medical/First Aid Aspects of Coaching".

Volunteer coaches who successfully complete this program receive:
"Coaching the Child Behind the Athlete" textbook
The Coaches Reference Manual (4th edition)
Certification card acknowledging attendance
Permanent registration with the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council
