Volunteer Opportunities - 2026 (UPDATE)
Our community has been fortunate to benefit from the dedication and generosity of incredible volunteers who have helped make our programs and events successful over the years. Their commitment has played an essential role in strengthening our community and enriching the lives of our residents.
As we move forward, there is still much work to be done, and we welcome continued enthusiasm, engagement, and active participation from community members. Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back and make a positive impact, and together we can continue to build strong, inclusive, and well-supported programs for our residents.
Updated Volunteer Program Structure & Safety Requirements
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, accountability, and organization, the Town’s volunteer program is moving toward a more structured framework. In accordance with New Jersey State law, volunteers who work with or around minors must comply with specific screening requirements.
Under N.J.S.A. 15A:3A-1 et seq., individuals serving in youth-serving programs must complete required background checks and fingerprinting. These measures are mandated to ensure the safety and well-being of all minors participating in municipal programs and are conducted in full compliance with local, state, and federal laws. If a Social Security Number is voluntarily provided, a background check is still required; however, fingerprinting may be waived in accordance with applicable State procedures.
The Town is committed to implementing these requirements responsibly and transparently while continuing to welcome volunteers who wish to serve and give back to their community.
Scheduled Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities will be organized with defined schedules, planned activities, and coordinated teams to ensure effective and reliable support for municipal programs, events, and initiatives. Other departments in our municipal building may have volunteering opportunities available. Please feel free to contact each of them separately for proper follow-up.
